My Marketing Mistake

I have a confession. I'm struggling to market my business to the people who I developed it for. Not because I don't know who my ideal customer is, but because the things I spend the majority of my time on these days are well beyond their literacy levels in this particular subject. And that's why they're my target customer. The value that I offer with The Plan is that they don't have to get into the weeds of astrology to benefit from what it can do for them.

But I have been deep in the weeds for months now, which has only increased as we approached the threshold of 2026. Everyone in the astrology world, from the most well respected experts to the spiritual pop girlies of TikTok are focused on the gravity of this year, and the cycles are being kicked off.

So of course, all I want to do is talk about astrology, because I am immersed in my own learning, but the complexity of the concepts I am talking about is exactly what keeps so many people away from it. It doesn't help that I'm very much a student myself, and also have more questions than answers.

I will attempt for a moment to strip the astrology out of the bulk of the rest of this, because what's important is the takeaway. The "why and how" doesn't have to matter to those who don't want to know.

A study of cycles

Because at its core, astrology is the study of cycles. After all, orbits are circular, the zodiac is a circle, years are just cycles of the same months on end; weeks, cycles of the same year; days, cycles around the same clock. Astrology doesn't "predict" things so much as it reveals the energy that will be present at any given moment in time, and astrologers who study world events look at other moments in time when the same energies existed, to see what patterns emerge.

In the simplest of terms, several cycles are coming to an end in rapid order. It's quite rare for so many "once in a lifetime, once in a generation" energies to be aligned in the sky, but that's what's happening in 2026.

Anyone who has been awake in the last year as these cycles began to wrap up could feel it. Trends are changing, the way we communicate is changing, technology is dramatically changing, world alliances are crumbling. Even things like the decline of alcohol can be attributed to the end of one of these cycles. Jim Beam has put a pause on 2026 production as a response to the declining demand!

This cycle’s theme: “Move Fast and Break Stuff”

Of course, the end of a cycle always marks the beginning of a new one (another excuse to quote the legendary Semisonic "every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end"). The nature of these new cycles is: fast. It's, "move fast and break stuff" energy.

Things are going to speed up in the world (I know you're wondering how much faster they can go. February is going to say "hold my beer.") and yeah; there will be a lot of pain. Systems are collapsing, illusions are being shattered, the curtain is being ripped down to reveal the smoke and mirrors that's been there all along.

If you're focusing the scope of this chaos on the current administration, you're thinking too small. The administration is a symptom of a system that has been festering for decades. It may be the tipping point, but we were going to arrive here one way or another.

This is not a chaos that can be calmed by midterm elections, or the timely death of an old man. There will be no going back to what was, we can only push forward to what will be. The cat won't get back in the bag, the toothpaste can't be put back into the tube, the bell can't be un-rung, [insert cliche of choice here]. Whatever comes next for the United States will be something brand new. What comes next globally will likely upend a world order that has been in place since the 50s.

Harnessing that energy for self-empowerment

Ultimately, something new and better will emerge after we reboot the world, following your favorite IT guy's first advice: turn it off and back on again. But during that restart, a lot of things will be "offline," and maybe some of our unsaved work will be lost, or files will be corrupted.

But that energy and drive and need to move are going to be present on an individual level, too. People will feel this change - some more than others, for multiple reasons - but we will all witness the consequences. When harnessed intentionally, not only do you have the chance of upgrading/rebooting/leveling up yourself, you can also be better prepared to meet what's coming.

The point is, this is a marathon, not a sprint. 2026 is only the kickoff. We can't stop what's coming, so rather than be afraid, be assertive. It's not frivolous or selfish to use this time to level up. It's not asking you to stop doing the work in your communities, and for the world. It's going to help you do that work more effectively.

Astrology isn't a fortune teller. It doesn't help you stop what's coming. But if you know it's going to rain, you bring an umbrella.

The sales pitch

So now we get to the part where I try to turn this point into sales, because The Plan can be your partner in 2026. I now understand that, for several reasons, I picked up on this shift a bit earlier than others. The Plan is the product of me doing my own level up.

I've been watching all these videos and webinars from influencer coaches on "how to grow my audience and hit 6 figure sales every month," and as lovely as that would be, it's completely inauthentic to me. And believe it or not, multiple six-figure months is not why I started this business (but look, I'm not going to tell the universe that I wouldn't be OPEN to it).

But what these influencers are teaching viewers to do is, in my opinion, just short of scamming, with a dash of MLM and hint of snake oil salesmanship.

I started The Plan because I genuinely believe that this workbook - in the hands of someone who is ready for it - is transformational. If my marketing feels pushy, it's because I so desperately want more people to benefit from what I know it can do.

During my market analysis, I did a lot of research on the right price point for the workbook - and then halved it twice. The whole strategy behind the Plan is to reduce the barriers to entry in astrology. I truly believe that we all deserve to understand the power your birth chart contains (I want to be clear that I am not calling out astrologers, here, I am calling out the barrier that the language of astrology presents).

I deliberately priced the workbook at a point that, while not the cost of a cup of coffee, might be the cost of dinner out. It's an approachable tradeoff. A splurge, but within the range of other weekly splurges.

My astrocartography readings and additional add ons will come as I continue on my own certification journey - but I always want the core offering to be accessible. And ultimately, my goal is to be based somewhere that I need less to live.

Needless to say, every single influencer/coach would tell me I've approached this all wrong.

But I don't think I have. I think that - for more complicated reasons that would make your eyes cross - I can be that bridge that helps usher people from the old cycle to the new cycle. I'm like a 17 year old camp counselor - last year I was a camper myself, but this year I know just enough more than the 16 year olds to have a walkie talkie.

The first major new cycle starts on January 27th. So I encourage you to think of these next two weeks as your prep time before the real New Year. The Plan will help you get yourself organized.

Order your workbook today so that you can step into this new cycle with confidence and clarity. I'll be right alongside you with my walkie talkie!
