Locational Astrology (aka Astrocartography, aka Relocation Astrology) is a birth chart analysis technique that explores how your life story can be influenced by location. Our birth charts are fixed, but they are also three dimensional. When transposed on a map of the world, it is possible to pinpoint the exact locations of the energetic influences that can turn the volume up, or down, on a specific area in your life.
This means certain places in the world will carry the energy and storylines of specific parts of your chart, and can help you make more strategic choices about where you live, work, and vacation.
Founded by Jim Lewis in 1979, this technique once required tedious manual mapping and measurements, but more recent technological advances mean the magic astrocartography unlocks is more accessible than ever.
Which places unlock your story?
The answer lies in your map, your one-of-a-kind birth chart. TikTok or Instagram Reels might tell you that if you travel to your Venus line you will be more likely to find love, but it’s not quite that simple. You can certainly play around with a free version of your map - as I did when I first learned about astrocartography - but getting a reading from someone with professional software and an understanding of the dozens of factors to be considered in the analysis might be a safer bet.

What do astrocartography and interior decorating have in common?
I love a good metaphor, and they come in especially handy for a subject as complicated as astrology.
Think about the order of operations involved in redecorating a room:
Choose the colors and paint the room
Put down area rugs and place the largest pieces of furniture
Hang curtains and large art/pictures
Fill bookcase, arrange tchochkes, and hang smaller artwork
The point being, you can’t style your bookcase until you’ve painted the walls and arranged the furniture. In astrocartography (and astrology in general, for that matter), you can actually identify specific days, hours, and even minutes; but first you need to paint the walls and arrange the large furniture, which is what we will do in your initial astrocartography consult. You can book a follow up reading once the paint dries, and we can hang the curtains together:)
Astrocartography in Practice
In 2021, my mom and I took a trip to Costa Rica to celebrate my 36th birthday. I've never met a person with a bad thing to say about Costa Rica, I'm on a girls trip with my mother - the recipe for an amazing trip was there. And sure, we had a nice enough time, but the trip just didn’t fill me with the sense of wonder and belonging that it appears to for so many people
Why didn't Pura Vida activate the optimistic and carefree state of mind its so famous for?
I have since learned that Saturn - a notoriously rigid and productivity-focused planetary line runs directly through Costa Rica. Saturn gets a bad rep, but I think of him like a team coach doing bed checks at 10pm and not letting me order that ice cream sundae. He’s a buzzkill because I have a competition to prepare for. And you better believe he’ll make sure I win the championship
That said, coach isn’t usually your first choice of vacation buddy. Had I known this at the time, I would have realized that this would have been a good place to get down to business, but for me, it was not well suited to live Pura Vida
If only I’d had an astrocartography reading before booking that trip!!

When you book, you'll receive a pre-read with a short Astrology 101 overview, so that you have some familiarity with some basic concepts, if this is your first time having an astrology reading

You'll receive the recording of our conversation and a summary of the locations discussed. When you’re ready to book your trip, you can book a follow up call where we’ll determine the best time to travel, and even the best part of town to stay!!
